PRIVATE RESTROOM

Private Restroom exists as an entrance point into the male human experience as an exercise in depicting private emotional spaces. These figures are male and speak about the particular influence of the physical world, and how the stresses of life, friends, partners, and work are dealt with in private spaces. Men spend a considerable amount of time in the bathroom as a refuge where they can think undisturbed, feel feelings they don’t feel comfortable feeling in front of others, or places to be alone with peace and quiet. This intimate place is the a place offered by the figures to be explored in the work. The figures are represented with a violent unfiltered physicality and the bathrooms with a matching presence so that the fact that this figure exists in this particular physical space is apparent.
